Delphine Henry Del Schulz, 76, of Brenham, died June 22, 2004, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Schulz was born April 2, 1928, in the Welcome community of Austin County, Texas, to Walter A. and Ophilia Thielemann Schulz. He was baptized and confirmed in Salem Lutheran Church in Welcome. Mr. Schulz attended Welcome school, was a graduate of Brenham High School and earned a bachelor s degree from the University of Texas at Tyler. After serving in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War, Mr. Schulz retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1973 as a chief master sergeant. He also retired from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. On June 23, 1951, he married Betty Jo Murdock in Grapeland, Texas. She preceded him in death on August 12, 1998. On May 1, 1999, he was married to Helen Louise Poehlmann Mikeska in Salem Lutheran Church in Welcome. Mr. Schulz was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Welcome. Survivors include his wife, Helen Schulz of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Carol Schulz of Friendswood; daughters, Deana Alexander of Creston, California, and fiancé Bruce Breault, and Susan and Paige McLain of Athens; sister and brother-in-law, Verlyn and Charles Mosley of Brenham; grandchildren, Rachel and Lance Sparks, Jessica Schulz, Stacy Schulz, Alyssa Schulz, Kyle Kauffman, Erick Kauffman, Leisa and Rick Pretti, Brian and Laticia Signorelli, Megan Signorelli, Bret Signorelli, Brooke Chronister, and Taylor McLain; stepchildren and their spouses, Theresa and Ray Rodenbeck, John and Dana Mikeska and Charles and Hertha Mikeska, all of Brenham; eight great-grandchildren; 7 stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Jo Murdock Schulz; brother, Walter A. Schulz; two grandchildren, Lindsey Schulz and Chad Kauffman; half brother, Leroy Schulz; and half sister, Peggy Whiddon; and a stepson, Michael Mikeska. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 25 in Salem Lutheran Church in Welcome with Pastor Jason Korthauer officiating. The graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday in Guiceland Cemetery in Salmon, Texas. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 24, in Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Mr. Schulz grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be given to Salem Lutheran Church in Welcome, Brazos Valley Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
