Dennis Schomburg, Jr.

Dennis William Schomburg, Jr., 82, of Brenham, died Oct. 1, 2005, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Schomburg was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Brenham, TX, to Dennis William Sr. and Margaret Eckardt Schomburg. He was baptized Jan. 6, 1924, in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham and was confirmed April 10, 1938, in the same church. Mr. Schomburg was a graduate of Brenham High School, Blinn College and attended the University of Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy as a radioman third class. On Dec. 8, 1946, he was married to Doris Stern in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg. Mr. Schomburg served as charter member, past commander and quartermaster of James F. Dillon Post 7104 VFW. He was a member of the American Legion and Scottish Rite, charter member of Goodfellows and life member and past master of Graham Lodge No. 20 A.F. & A.M. He was a member of St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. He was retired from TFE Co. Survivors include his wife, Doris Schomburg of Brenham; two sons, Mike Schomburg of Fort Worth and David Schomburg of Brenham; and a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Anne Schomburg of Brenham. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Lawrence Bade and Pastor Kim Little-Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. today in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Robert Kolkhorst, Lamar Cooksey, John Bilski, Mark Bilski, James Gillespie, Pablo Marin and Larry Cegielski. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Rosenbaum, Ed Kruse, Paul LaRoche, Gordon Parker, Leroy Loesch, Pierre Roberts, Bill Raschke, Woody Wilkening, James Proske and Robert L. Schroeder. Memorials may be given to St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church TV Ministry, Hospice Brenham, the Dennis Schomburg Endowed Scholarship Program at Blinn College or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
