Donald (Don) Lee Andrew, 78, passed away on December 18, 2024. Don was born December 5, 1946 in Dallas, Texas to Les Andrew & Betty Andrew (Perry).
The family moved to Houston when Don was an infant, and he was raised and lived in Houston for 28 years. He graduated Reagan High School in Houston in 1965. Don married Sandra Nowlin and had twin daughters, Lisa and Risa in 1970. Though their relationship turned out to be less permanent than either expected, both went on to remarry and raise exceptional children.
Don worked as a machinist starting right after high school until his retirement from MIC Group in Brenham. Don met the love of his life, Linda in Houston and they were married May 25, 1976. They had their daughter, Courtney in 1977 and moved to Brenham shortly after to raise their family.
Don joined the Brenham Fire Department and was a volunteer for 12 years. He loved responding to the calls and being a part the community. Don’s greatest accomplishments and joys was his family. He loved his wife Linda more than anything and they were inseparable for 48 years. Don also loved the Astros, Texans, Nascar and his dogs Jake and Roxie. After his retirement, his joys were working in the yard, polishing up his Jeep and computer games. Don was a great husband, father and friend. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for anyone in need.
Don had a full life until he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2023. Even through his struggles and tough times he still remembered his sweet Linda.
Don is survived by his wife Linda Roese Andrew, daughters Courtney Thomas and husband Carl, Lisa Wright and husband Mel, Risa Stone and husband Matt, his four granddaughters, and one great granddaughter. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Gene Perry and wife Jeannie.
Don was preceded in death by parents Dallas & Betty Perry, brother Dally Perry, and in-laws Melvin and Emma Jean Roese.
A visitation with the family will be 4pm-6pm Sunday, December 22 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be 11am Monday, December 23, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church in Brenham. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.
