Donald Davis Gregg, 75, of Brenham, died August 5, 2009, in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Mr. Gregg was born September 25, 1933, in Palestine, Texas, to Travis Carroll and Pauline Davis Gregg. He was a 1955 graduate of Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Fighting Aggie Band. On December 29, 1954, he was married to Carol Hicks in Collingswood, New Jersey. Mr. Gregg was a member of First United Methodist Church of Brenham, the BPOE 979, the Former Students at Texas A&M University and the Aggie Band Association. He was a retired major in the Texas State Guard, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and entertaining friends and family. Mr. Gregg was a professional petroleum engineer. Survivors include his wife, Carol Gregg of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Diana and Robert Mullins of Brownwood and Paula and Jonathan Bret Whittaker of Chappell Hill; grandchildren, Gregg Mullins, Alissa and Michael Fulkersin, Stacy and Trey Murphy, Jonathan Bret Whittaker II and Taylor Nicole Whittaker; great-grandchild, Hayden Michael Fulkersin; brother and sister-in-law, Jon and Tome Gregg of Palestine; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Carol Hicks of Vancouver, Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Amanda Lea Whittaker. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 7 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8 at First United Methodist Church of Brenham with Rev. Dale Chance officiating. The graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8 at Roselawn Cemetery in Palestine. Memorial contributions may be given to First United Methodist Church CDC. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
