Donald Meier

Donald Lee Meier, 67, passed away July 19, 2019 in Brenham.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg, with Pastor Evan Cameron officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Donald Meier was born January 18, 1952 in Brenham to Lee Roy and Nora Naumann Meier. He was baptized February 24, 1952 and confirmed April 3, 1966. On April 16, 1983, he married Miranda Schlabach in Brenham.

Donald received a B. S. degree in Electronics. He was employed as a vocational assessor with the Brenham State Supported Living Center, and later worked in social services as a Supervisor of Health and Human Services.

Donald will be remembered for his giving spirit and kind heart, always willing to help those in need. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Woodworking and gardening were favorite pastimes. He was also an avid coin collector.

Survivors include his wife, Miranda Meier; daughter, Carra Emmalee Meier; son Christopher Louis Meier; brother and sister-in-law Darrell and Cheryl Meier, all of Brenham; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Walter and Alisa Schlabach of Brenham; aunt, Ruth Kelling; nieces Adrienne Meier and Katie Schlabach; nephews Nicholas Vierus and Jonathan Schlabach; great-nieces Keeli and Kambree Schlabach; great-nephews Daveon Schlabach and Carter and Cooper Vierus.

Donald Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy and Nora Meier.

Serving as pallbearers are David Kiemsteadt, Les Meier, Otto Kemper, Charles Kemper, Ronald Kelling, Jeff Appel, Charles Wade, and Kenneth Kramer.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg, or the Volunteer Services Council of the Brenham State Supported Living Center.
