Donnis Ivy

Donnis Edd Ivy went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2020 at the age of 84 years and six months.

He was born on May 19, 1936 to Melton Edd and Theo (Rocka) Ivy in Camden, TX. He married his wife, Mary Jane Moon, on February 6, 1981. At an early age the family moved to Houston, TX where they made their home.

At an early age he was employed at several different places. His last employment was at Garret Brass as a foreman, where he was employed for twenty-eight years.

Mr. Ivy was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. He also loved woodworking, beekeeping, and fishing.

Donnis was preceded in death by his parents, Melton and Theo Ivy; daughter, Wanda; sons, Sidney and Thomas; and sister, Judy Thornton.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Ivy of Brenham, TX; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry Cooksey and husband Lamar of Brenham, TX; sons, Johnny Downs and wife Melody of Spring, TX and Billy Downs and wife Renee of Brenham, TX; grandchildren, Mary Pearl, Bud, Mary, Misty, Kaylee and Kara; and three great grandchildren, Tyler, Landon, and Laina.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Darren Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.
