Doris Bosse

Doris Mae Mackenroth Bosse of Houston passed away November 1, 2018.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Abiding Word Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Christ offiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Doris Mae Mackenroth was born at her parent’s rural home in the Carmine/Burton area, TX on October 15, 1936. She was baptized at Martin Luther Church, Carmine, TX by Rev. H. Brunnotte on November 15, 1936. The family moved to LaGrange in 1948 and she was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, LaGrange , TX by Rev. H. T. Flachmeier on September 10, 1950.

The family moved to Brenham in 1951 where she attended Brenham High School. She loved to play tennis and softball and worked part time at Ben Franklin 5 & Dime store. Later she worked part time and full time during summers in the accounting department at Blue Bell Creamery.

She met Bill Bosse during her sophomore year when he was a junior. Bill was smitten by her immediately and the invitation he wrote to those invited to their 50th wedding anniversary began with “I think it was sometime in the fall of 1952 when I saw this girl in the hall for the first time in my life. Wow! Where did she come from? Right then and there I knew immediately that God had made us for each other.”

Doris wasn’t so sure but eventually agreed with Bill. They started “going steady” in the fall of 1953, he proposed to her at Christmas time in 1955 and they were married September 2, 1956 in Brenham, TX at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church by Pastor Theo R. Streng. They were blessed with their one and only child, Kelly Ann Bosse - born July 29, 1965.

Doris attended Blinn Jr College for two years and received an Associates degree in accounting. During those years she worked at radio station KWHI. The couple moved to Bryan in 1957 where she worked in the payroll department in the Texas Agricultural Extention Agents of Texas Headquarters office.

The couple moved to Houston in 1959 where she worked for Austral Oil Exploration Company until Kelly was born in 1965. In 1967 the Bosse family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona and enjoyed 3 years there until they returned to Houston in 1970.

Doris returned to work in partnership with Bill when they opened Bill Bosse & Associates in 1979. She joined Independent Marketing Alliance to manage their accounting department in 2002 until retiring in 2017 to be a stay at home mom and wife.

Survivors are her husband, William R. “Bill” Bosse of Houston; daughter, Kelly Ann Bosse;sisters, Vernell Foyt and Marjorie Lemire and husband Bruce.
