Doris Quebe Machemehl, 89, of Brenham passed away on June 6, 2013. She was born in Brenham on May 29, 1924 to Theodore and Selma Boeker Quebe. Doris was baptized on August 10, 1924, at St. John''s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill where she remained a life-long member. Following graduation from Brenham High School and Southwestern Business School, she resided in Houston working for Liberty Mutual Insurance. On September 11, 1943, she and Charles Walter Machemehl were united in marriage in Temple, Texas. During his deployment to the European Theatre, Doris remained in Temple where she worked for McCloskey General Hospital. Following the war, they eventually made their home in Brenham where he established a real estate business and ranching operation with her help. Doris was a talented seamstress spending many hours making clothes and quilts. She and Charles enjoyed 61 years of marriage before his passing in 2005. Doris was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her son, Chuck Machemehl of Brenham; daughter, Sally Jones of Brenham; grandchildren Joe Machemehl; Kate Mefford and husband Bobby; Jill Moore and husband Charles; Jared Jones and wife Alexandra. Great-granddaughters Meredith, Reese and Whitney Moore and Mille Mefford. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, John Henry and TC Quebe; son-in-law James Reese Jones and granddaughter Julie Ann Jones. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John''s Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, Reverend David Hansen officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Julie Ann Jones Memorial Theological Scholarship Trust, Post Office Box 382, Brenham or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 Main Street, Brenham.
