Doris Rosenbaum

Doris Lillian Koester Rosenbaum, age 92, passed away on May 26, 2020 after a battle with cancer.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2020 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton, TX with Pastor Darrin Holub officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was born on December 6, 1927 at home near Brenham, TX in the Pleasant Hill Community on a farm and was the daughter of Theo and Lillie Luedke Koester.

Doris was the first to be baptized in the New Wehdem church on February 2, 1928 and confirmed at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brenham, TX. Doris went to grade school at Pleasant Hill and completed Brenham High School. Afterwards, she attended Blinn College.

She worked for Southwest Bell Telephone in the records department, the soil testing lab at Texas A&M, and then retired from Houston ISD. She was an active member of the Altar-Guild and the Wednesday morning church quilting group that made hundreds of quilts a year for the Christian Community Service Center Organization. She and her husband were long time members of the Top Cat Dance Club.

Doris is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Floyd Rosenbaum and daughter Cynthia Rosenbaum. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Karl Nowotny and wife Christy, Kathryn Nowotny, Kyle Nowotny, Kristofer Nowotny and wife Jenn, and her great grandchild, Holden Nowotny. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Charles Porter, nieces and nephews and their families.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her son Russel Rosenbaum.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
