Dorothy Dannhaus

Dorothy Vernell (Henske) Dannhaus, 93, widow of Lonnie Dannhaus, passed away August 15, 2018 in Industry.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, August 20, 2018 at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, with Pastor Lawrence Bade officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Dorothy Dannhaus was born December 12, 1924 in Austin County to Charlie and Almeta Ueckert Henske. She was baptized April 21, 1925 at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, where she was confirmed April 2, 1939. On July 21, 1945, she married Lonnie E. Dannhaus, also at St. James Lutheran of New Wehdem, where she remained a member until her death.

Dorothy was employed in the cafeteria in Brenham area schools. She was well-known for her cake decorating abilities. She treasured time spent with her family.

Survivors include daughters Karolyn Ottmer (David) of Bellville; Joan Buenger of Industry; sister-in-law, Ellen Henske; brother-in-law, Junior Dierking, both of Brenham; grandchildren: Sara Barnett (Treavor); Amanda Wagner, (Bryan Hartman), Jay Buenger (Elizabeth); Clint Buenger (Sarah); Kate Buenger; great-grandchildren: Allie Barnett, Katie Barnett, Jack Buenger, and Ryan Buenger. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie, on May 16, 1979, and Waylon Wagner.

Serving as pallbearers are Jay Buenger, Clint Buenger, Treavor Barnett, Bryan Hartman, Jess Buenger, and Justin Buenger. Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Henske, Larry Dierking, Sonny Dannhaus, Marvin Thielemann, and all employees of Oak Haven Assisted Living.

Memorials may be directed to St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem, or to Hospice Brazos Valley.
