Dorothy Gaskamp

Dorothy Ann (Schwartz) Gaskamp, 89, of the William Penn Community, passed away on December 31, 2016 in Brenham, Texas.

Ann was born on September 8, 1927 in the William Penn Community of Washington County to Fred and Rosa (Goeke) Schwartz. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn. On May 26, 1951, she married Raymond Gaskamp also at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She was a graduate of William Penn High School where she played 3rd base on the baseball team, and was salutatorian of her class. She was a graduate of Blinn College. Ann's great enjoyment was watching her two boys (her son and grandson) play baseball and run track. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn where she sang in the Church Choir. She also loved to play cards and dominoes on Friday nights. For the past 5 years she gave loving care to her husband who was homebound.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Raymond Gaskamp; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Brenda Gaskamp of Brenham; brother and sister-in-law Fred (Fritzie) and JoAnn Schwartz of Brenham; sister Eleanor Pearl Gaskamp of Brenham; grandson; Ryan Gaskamp of Houston; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Clarence and Bernice Gaskamp of Brenham, Florence Gaskamp of Richmond and Annie Gaskamp of Brenham and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin brother Wilbert Schwartz; sister and brother-in-law Gertie and Otto Kramer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Henry and Alma Gaskamp, Louise Gaskamp, Jim and Thekla Lueckemeyer, Herbert and Hattie Gaskamp, Walter Gaskamp, Alfred and Nelda Gaskamp, Melvin Gaskamp, Otto Gaskamp Jr., Monroe and Lillian Gaskamp and Herbert and Meta Mutscher.

The family would like to thank AMA Home Care, Kruse Village and Brazos Valley Hospice for all of their care.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn at 10:00 am, with Pastor Mark Moldenhauer officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2017 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Serving as Pallbearers are Jeff Schwartz, Logan Schwartz, John Bartlett, Emanuel Schwartz, Trenton Schwartz and Valgene Kohring.

Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn.
