Dorothy Ann Knolle Routt Tillman passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 18, 2007 at her family home in Brenham, Texas at the age of 79 years. Dorothy Ann was born December 30, 1927 in Brenham to the late Dr. Waldo Austin and Lillian Mae Navratil Knolle. She was baptized, confirmed, and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brenham for 69 years. After high school, Dorothy Ann attended Baylor University. She married Milton Lee Routt and they raised their three children in Chappell Hill. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Dorothy Ann felt blessed to be raised and to have lived in Brenham. She loved her parents, family, friends, and home more than can be conveyed in words. She had an extremely keen eye for beauty in almost any form, including nature, art, and fashion. Dorothy Ann enjoyed socializing with her dear friends, and was very proud of her relationships and family. Dorothy Ann is survived by her children, Marjorie Ann Routt Young of Brenham, Matthew Austin Routt of Chappell Hill, and Milton Lee Chip Routt, Jr., M.D. and wife Janet Ann Johnson, M.D. of Seattle, Washington; six grandchildren: Abigail Elizabeth Young Thompson and husband Benjamin Randolph Thompson of Spring; Amanda Ann Young of Brenham; Austin Harper Routt and Redmond Otis Routt of Chappell Hill; Joe Beckman Routt and Jack Edward Routt of Seattle, Washington; four great-granddaughters, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is survived by many special friends, including the Birthday Group, Guadadupe Cienega, Harry Penkert, Ella Mae Teufel, and Henry Zientek. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Marjorie Doris Knolle; husbands Milton Lee Routt and G. Mitchell Tillman, and son-in-law Solon D. Young II. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, morning August 22, 2007 at 10:30, with interment at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham, followed by a reception at the church fellowship hall. Visitation with family and friends will be held Tuesday evening August 21, 2007 at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham from five until seven-thirty. Pallbearers will be Tieman H. Dippel, Jr., Dr. Robert S. Stark, Harry Penkert, Delbert H. Stark, Jr., Stephen C. Miller, and Robert E. Rigney, Jr. For those desiring, the family suggests donations be directed to the First United Methodist Church, 408 North Baylor, Brenham, Texas 77833; Trinity Health Services Foundation, 700 Medical Parkway, Brenham, Texas 77833, or a charity of choice.
