Dorthy Tockhorn

Dorthy Mae Tockhorn, 91, widow of William Tockhorn, died October 4, 2018 in Brenham.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday October 12, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Katrina Walther officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Dorthy Tockhorn was born November 7, 1926 in the La Bahia community of Washington County to Paul and Lizzie Klaus Kessler. She was baptized in May of 1927 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine, and was confirmed there April 6, 1941 by Pastor Brunotte. On September 17, 1950, she was married to William Tockhorn in the same church by Pastor A. J. Kluge.

Dorthy was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church for many years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxilliary and the Sons of Herman. She worked in the gas department of the City of Brenham for many years.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Stella Kessler of Burton; nieces and nephews: Dr. James Barta, Donald Kessler, Henry Kessler, Donna Hall, Brenda Pritchett, and Pam Polasek. Other special surviving relatives are Gladys Ordner, Charles “Butch” Ordner and Jeffery Tockhorn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Tockhorn; brothers Paul Kessler and Milroy Kessler, sister-in-law, Esther Barta, and brother-in-law, John Barta.

Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church and Hospice Brazos Valley.
