Funeral services for Douglas "Boots" Lorenz husband of Roseanna Lorenz Baker will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel Thursday, June 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Grave side service will follow immediately at Prairie Lea Cemetery with Rev. Pete Heaton officiating. Visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Douglas Lorenz was born December 22, 1934 to Irene Elizabeth Lorenz Braun. He passed away May 31st at the age of 79. He grew up in Brenham and moved to Houston in 1952 after his marriage to Elaine Lehde Lorenz. He became a master carpenter and worked for E L Taylor Construction Co. for many years. He was a member of Local 213 Carpenter Union. Upon returning to Washington County he operated a contractor dozer business. He married Roseanna Baker June 30, 2006. Douglas was a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. He founded the Go Texan Trail Riders in 1959 and in 1967 founded the "Diamond L" Trail Riders. He rode with the Salt Grass Trail Ride from 1959 until 2013. Survivors include his wife, Roseanna Lorenz Baker of Washington on the Brazos; brother, Ben and Patricia Braun of Crockett, TX; sister, Margie and John Smallwood; sister, Ima Jean and Rusty Diller all of Houston; son, Michael Lorenz of Houston; daughter, Judy and Clark May of Houston; step-son, Michael and Michelle Murray of Johnston, OH; Dawn and Derrick Smith of Katy; grandchildren, Caprice and Chase Fuller; Nathan May; Steve and Nicole Huebner; Joseph and Britney Buckley; Terrill and Bridget Murray; Travis Murray, Cory and Rachel Smith; Andrew Smith; Christian Cook; great-grandchildren, Zakary Fuller; Madison Huebner; Alyssa Murray; Landon Buckley; Kenzley Buckley; and Jessie Murray. Other survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, Roseanna''s parents, Pops and Annabell Baker and Elaine Lorenz, mother of his children. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Louis and Minnie Lorenz; mother, Irene Braun; sister, Shirley Braun; daughter, Carol Sue Lorenz; and sister Patsy Bokemeyer. Serving as pall bearers are Chris Koester, Jon Majewski, Danny Koester, Kevin Bonney, Stewart Hardwick, and Brad Bell. Honorary pall bearers are Earl Smith, Perry Baker and Don Hinze. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley or to any favorite charity. Funeral arrangements for Douglas Lorenz are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham.
