Douglas Roehling

July 21, 1941 — March 16, 2015

Douglas William "Chubby" Roehling, 73, of Bellville, died March 16, 2015 in College Station. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pastor Jill Vivroux will officiate. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Douglas Roehling was born July 21, 1941 in Burton to Gus William and Gearline Emma Renz Roehling. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. He later became a member of St. John''s Lutheran Church of Bellville. Douglas was a long-time employee of the Washington Co. Road and Bridge Dept., retiring in 2003. He loved to hunt, as well as buy and sell cars and guns. A kind person, he was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. Survivors include his brother, Larry Wayne Roehling of Brenham; special friend Vernice Luedke of Bellville; nephew Michael and Susan Roehling of Burton; great-nieces and great-nephews Levi, Calley, and Braden Roehling; his extended family, including Gary and Roxanne Luedke, Charles and Bobby Hargrave, all of Bellville, and Donna and Roger Newman of Virginia, as well as numerous friends and other relatives. Memorials may be directed to St. John''s Lutheran Church of Bellville. Funeral arrangements for Douglas William "Chubby" Roehling are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
