Douglas Stepan

Douglas Doug John Stepan, 50, of Hempstead, died Aug. 24, 2007, at his residence. Mr. Stepan was born May 29, 1957, in Pasadena, Texas, to Allen John and Dorothy Jeanie Meyer Stepan. On May 24, 1980, he was married to Diana Cone in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Chappell Hill. Mr. Stepan was a ranch supervisor for Chappell Hill Sausage. Survivors include his wife, Diana Cone Stepan of Hempstead; his parents, Allen and Dorothy Jeanie Stepan of Brenham; sons, Mitchell John Stepan and Clint Joseph Stepan, both of Hempstead; daughter, Candace Marie Stepan of Hempstead; sister, Sherry Lynn Kruger and husband Darrell of Brenham; sister-in-law, Tricia Cone; brothers-in-law, David Cone and wife Meg and Douglas Cone and wife Tikaa; nieces and nephews, Chad Kruger and wife Rhonda, Kellan Kruger, Kristy Krolczyk, Bradley Winters and wife Kim, Caroline Cone, Margaret Cone, Austin Cone, Rialey Cone and Henry Cone; great-niece, Anneliese Kruger; great-nephew, Weston Krolczyk; and special friend, Rushl Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Clara Springer Cone. A vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26 at Memorial Oaks Chapel and will include a rosary prayed by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation with the family will be held prior to and following the vigil service. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Aug. 27 at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 800 FM 1488, Hempstead, TX 77445, with Father James Burkart, Msgr. John Malinowski, and Father Ed Kucera, celebrants. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
