Dover D. Schroeder, 87, passed away June 4, 2013 in Houston. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham, with Pastor Jeffrey King officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Dover Schroeder was born Feb. 19, 1926 in the William Penn Community of Washington County to Willie and Millie Pohlmeyer Schroeder. He was both baptized and later confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn. After attending area schools, he served his country in the U. S. Army during WWII, and married Jean Ann Knight in Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Wm. Penn. A member of Immanuel Lutheran Church while living in Houston, coming back to Brenham to visit was a highlight for him. His family was very important to him, and he treasured time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Larry Schroeder of Houston, and William Schroeder and wife Cindy of Lake Texoma; daughter Beverly Peterson and husband Lynn of Houston; grandchildren Jennifer Shockley and husband Mike, Joey Schroeder and wife Brandi, and Rachel Schroeder; great-grandchildren Brendan, Ashley, and Avery Shockley, Alexis Mosqueda, and Allison and Maddison Schroeder.; brother and sister-in-law Roger and Elvera Schroeder of Brenham; sisters Audrey Kennedy of Mexia, and Bernell Dimoush and husband Carl of Bryan. Last but not least, he is also survived by his beloved granddog, Harley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, his parents, and a brother, Glifford Schroeder.
