Dr. Neil Howard Kruse, 45, of Mount Pleasant, S.C., entered into eternal rest Monday, Aug. 11, 2003 at his residence following a short and courageous battle with cancer. Dr. Kruse was born April 7, 1958 in Brenham, Texas, son of Ed. F. and Evelyn Tiaden Kruse. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1980 and University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas in 1984 with a degree in dentistry. He married his wife, Jane, June 17, 1984. Dr. Kruse practiced dentistry in his hometown of Brenham, Texas from 1984 until 1996. After moving to Mount Pleasant in 1996, he became active in real estate development. He was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the board of directors of Trident Academy where he served as chairman in 2002 and vice-chairman in 2001. He was also past president of the Trident Academy Parents Association. He served as chairman of the Sertoma Classic 1999 and was a member of Charleston Sertoma Club since 1998. He also served as a member of the board of directors of the Lutheran Social Services of the South, was an active member of St. Paul''s Lutheran Church in Brenham, Texas, and participated in numerous dental organizations. Surviving are his wife, Jane Koester Kruse; one son, Jordan William Kruse; one daughter, Claire Evelyn Kruse, all of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; parents, Ed. F. and Evelyn Tiaden Kruse; grandmother, Hildegard Tiaden; one brother, Paul W. Kruse and wife Barbara, all of Brenham, Texas; one sister, Karen Kruse Hall and husband Wes, of College Station, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. Ken E. Kruse; and grandparents, E.F. and Bertha Kruse and Ewald Tiaden. A memorial message may be written to the family at 124 Mary Street, Mount Pleasant, S.C. 29464. A memorial service will be held in Mount Pleasant, S.C. Friday, with a private interment to follow in Brenham at Prairie Lea Cemetery. A memorial service will be held Monday, Aug. 18 at 3:30 p.m. at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church in Brenham. The family will receive friends following the service at St. Paul''s fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul''s Children''s Day School, 305 West Third Street, Brenham, Texas 77833, or a charity of your choice.
