Dr. Zernial

August 21, 1937 — December 23, 2009

Dr. Gerald Allen Zernial passed away peacefully in Galveston on December 23, 2009 after a long illness. He was born in 1937, raised in Brenham, TX and attended Brenham High School. He was a graduate of Texas A&M, receiving his BS in Mechanical Engineering, graduate of Michigan State, receiving his MS in Mechanical Engineering, and a graduate of University of Texas in Houston, receiving his DDS. After completing his Doctorate in Dentistry, he returned to Brenham to practice. When not practicing dentistry, Gerald enjoyed raising and watching his cows. He was one of two children born to the late John & Ruby Zernial and was the beloved husband of Nanette Zernial for over 40 years. Gerald will forever be remembered by his devoted brother and sister-in-law John and Jeaneane Zernial , beloved daughters and sons-in-law Zanette and Neill Strickland, Zee Zee and Randy Raska, along with countless friends and family whom were blessed to know him. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you, and whispered "Come to Me". With tearful eyes we watched you, we watched you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands now rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. Visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel on Friday, December 25th from 3:00-8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, December 26 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Brenham. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Memorials may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Foundation or In Touch Ministries.
