Earl Douglas McClain, 69, husband of Bonnie Hohlt McClain, passed away March 18, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Pastor Bill Phemer officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul''s Lutheran Church Cemetery of Rehburg. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 10 until 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Earl McClain was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on March 30, 1944 to Raymond E. and Mary Estelle Havens McClain. Cradle Roll was observed May 6, 1944. On June 25, 1982 he married Bonnie Hohlt. Earl is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie, his sons Carl Douglas and wife Diana, daughter, Molly McClain Carter, son Dean and wife Gail McClain, 7 grandchildren: Carla McClain Harms, Brandy McClain, Johnathon McClain, Deborah Graham, Christopher Miller, Lindsay McClain Fischer, and Kaitlyn McClain; 17 great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Lillie Hohlt, sister-in-law Lois Mooney; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ricky and Janie Hohlt; his brother Jack; sisters-in-law Jacque and Sandy McClain, and a host of family and friends around the U.S. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers Richard, Michael, and Ronnie McClain, and a sister, Janice McClain. Earl was an avid animal lover, raising award-winning animals including pigeons, German shepherds and his greatest love, horses. He loved to toil with leather crafts making many purses and wallets that all will cherish. Fishing was a favorite pastime, as well as watching old Roy Rogers movies on T.V. He was a member of the Reformed Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, receiving his Patriarchal Blessing in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 19, 1960. Memorials in Earl''s memory may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley in lieu of flowers. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W.Main, Brenham.
