Edgar Lentz

Edgar Edward Lentz, 84, of Brenham, husband of Ruby Makowsky Lentz, 84, died January 21, 2009. He was born on November 11, 1924 in Burton, Texas to Fritz and Emma Meyer Lentz, and was baptized January 30, 1925 in St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg by Pastor H. Weber. On September 3, 1939, he was confirmed in the same church by Rev. C. A. Lehne. Mr. Lentz was educated in Rehburg area schools, Blinn College, and the University of Houston, and served in the U. S. Air Force during World War II. On January 11, 1948, he was married to Ruby Makowsky in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine by Pastor W. Wolff. He was an employee of Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1987 after 37 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Lentz of Brenham; son Edgar Lee Lentz of Houston; sisters Mary Lueck, Shirley Hackemack and Louise Bert Sibley, all of Houston. sisters-in-law, Allyne Lentz and Doris Lentz, both of Houston. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Fritz and Emma Lentz; three brothers: Gus, Alex and Fritz Lentz, Jr; brother-in-law Al Masaryk, and sisters, Ora Nell Marshall and Emma Jean Lentz. Mr. Lentz was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and the American Legion Post #48. He loved being in the outdoors, spending his time gardening, farming and raising cattle. Funeral services for Edgar Edward Lentz will be held January 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastors Matthew Jacobs and William Holzer officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will take place from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 23, 2009 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. His nephews will service as pallbearers. Memorials may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church or to a favorite charity.
