Edgar Schwartz

Edgar Schwartz, 81, husband of Sandra Schwartz, died December 24, 2016 at his residence.

Edgar Schwartz was born November 25, 1935 in the William Penn Community of Washington County to Henry Robert and Lydia Boenker Schwartz. Baptized December 22, 1935, he was confirmed April 2, 1950 at Bethan Lutheran Church, where he remained a lifelong member. On June 21, 1964, he married Sandra Kieke at the First United Methodist Church.

After completing his military service in the U. S. Army, Edgar attended Blinn College. He was a farmer and rancher in Washington County.

Ranching and his family were Edgar's passions. While working as a rancher/farmer, Edgar owned Schwartz's Lawn and Garden. During the fifteen years of owning the shop, he met many people who became his friend. Those friends often stopped by the shop just to visit even if they did not need a repair or to make a purchase. Edgar's greatest gifts were his charm and kind, generous heart. He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone.

Edgar was especially proud of his children and grandchildren. His favorite thing in life was spending time with them.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Schwartz; his children: Rebecca and Tim Buchanan, Tina and Ron Ahasan, Robert and Brandi Schwartz, and Adrienne and Jerremy Guthrie; brothers: Milton Schwartz, Kenneth Schwartz and wife Marie, Edward Schwartz, Trenton Dean Schwartz; sisters Geraldine Pohlmeyer and late husband, Glen Pohlmeyer, Gloria Ann Klussmann and husband Raymond, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Donald Winkelmann. Grandchildren: Madeline Jean Buchanan, Caleb Edward Buchanan, Emma Kate Schwartz, Andrew Jacob Schwartz, Joshua Schwartz Ahasan, Aliyah Ann Ahasan, Henry Schwartz Ahasan, Lydia Claire Guthrie, Jackson Wayne Guthrie and Brody Wayne Guthrie. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Robert and Lydia Boenker Schwartz, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred Andrew and Ernestine Kieke.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Mark Moldenhauer will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Serving as pallbearers are Kenneth Dean Schwartz, Gerald Don Pohlmeyer, Jeff Schwartz, Bert Klussmann, Bradley Klussmann, Jordan Schwartz, and Brian Klussmann.
