Edmund R. Lehmann passed away Friday, May 11, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. Edmund R. Lehmann was born September 9, 1931 in Brenham, Texas, the son of John H. and Minnie Spitzer Lehmann. Having been made a child of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on March 20, 1932 by Rev. Arthur Hartmann at St. Paul''s Ev. Lutheran Church in Brenham, he later affirmed his faith in the Rite of Confirmation on April 14, 1946 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sandy Hill by Rev. W.C. Poehlmann. Ed was educated in Washington County public schools, Blinn College and graduated from the University of Houston with a BBA in Accounting. Ed served in the U.S. Army in the Department of Army Engineers from 1952-1954. He was united in Holy Matrimony with Doris "Ann" Schaefer on April 3, 1955 at St. John''s Lutheran Church in Prairie Hill by Rev. Louis Kramer. Kevin Ray and Tamara Kay Lehmann were born of this union. They made their homes in Houston, Brenham, and Conroe where he always responded to calls for Christian service as a member of St. Mark''s Lutheran in Conroe, Kinsmen Lutheran in Houston, and St. Paul''s Ev. Lutheran churches. Ed was President of First Saving Association; while in Brenham he served as president of Washington County Chamber of Commerce, organizer and first president of the Blue Blazers, president of the Rotary Club, recipient of the UH Alumni''s John B. Van Ness Award. By far Ed''s most valuable contribution to the city of Brenham and surrounding communities will be his service through First Savings Association of providing the financial means for hundreds of couples to obtain homes for their families. In August 1989 he received his SEC License and in September 1989 was employed by Merrill Lynch as a Financial Consultant in the Woodlands. Later Ed joined Neal Financial Group as LPL Financial Advisor. Survived by Doris Ann Lehmann, wife of 57 years, daughter Tamara Kay and Son Kevin Ray and wife Vicki, grandchildren Robert Brady Barnett, Valerie Barnett Steele and husband David, and Cory Edmund Lehmann, great grandchildren Layla & Isaac David Steele. Sister, Ruth Wehmeyer, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death are his parents, one brother, and three sisters. Pallbearers are his nephews; Nolan & David Lehmann, Darrell Wehmeyer, Mark Herzog, James Reue, Tommie & Hershel Becker, Bill III, Gary & Kenneth Moore, Ronald & Donald Smith, & Ford Witherspoon IV. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Henry J. Boehm, Mayor Milton Tate, Charles Moser, John Barkman, Joe Al Picone, Eddie Van Dyke, Roy Marshall, & Neal Financial Group Employees. Visitation will be Monday, May 14th at 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 15 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul''s Ev. Lutheral Church at 305 W. Third Street & S. Austin Street with Rev. Phil Fenton officiating. Memorials may be made to St. Paul''s Ev. Lutheran Ch., Hospice Brazos Valley, or a charity of your choice.
