Edmund Schaefer, 91, husband of Leona Hensen Schaefer, died March 6, 2012 in Bluebonnet Hills Care Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 9 at St. Mary''s Catholic Church in Brenham with Father David Ivey officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Brenham. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Edmund was born December 20, 1920 to Adolph and Johanna Ruemke Schaefer in Brenham. He married Leona Hensen on June 2, 1946 in St. Mary''s Catholic Church and was self-employed as a painter. He served in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and later served as Commander of the Disabled American Veterans in Burton. Survivors include his wife, Leona Henson Schaefer of Brenham; son, Jerry L. Schaefer of Brenham; grandchildren: Leah and Todd Calder and Leslie and Jeff Kurtz, great-grandchildren: Jordan Schaefer, Madeline Brook Calder, Carson Calder, Kyle and Hope Kurtz; and brothers and sisters, Leroy Schaefer, Verna Mae Sefcik, Adolph Schaefer, Jr., Edgar Schaefer and Elsie Horak. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Ervin Schaefer and sister Hildagard Schaefer. Serving as pallbearers are Mike Mueller, David Majewski, Gary Stelter, Billy Schaefer, Leonard Bilski, Brad Bentke, and Ronnie Jaster. Memorials may be directed to any favorite charity.
