Edna Krause

Edna Mathilda Emilia Krause left her earthly home of 91 years and arrived at her heavenly, eternal, home on Saturday, May 23, 2009. Edna was born on December 24, 1917 in Washington County, Texas to Willie J. and Monita Meyer Bockhorn. On March 10, 1918, she was baptized at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham by Pastor E. A. Sagebiel. She was confirmed in the same church on April 10, 1932 by Pastor A. E. Hartmann. On February 22, 1941, she was married to Raymond G. Krause in ST. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church by Pastor Theo. R. Streng. Edna received her education at Stone School and Brenham High School. As a young girl she was quite active in 4-H and was a Gold Star winner. She was a life-long member of St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was a member and officer of the Women of the Church and a Sunday school and Vacation Bible school teacher for many years. Edna worked at Weiner''s Department Store over 25 years and spent a number of years as a talented seamstress sewing numerous Maifest costumes, wedding dresses, and clothes for herself and her family. Her hobbies were playing cards, dominoes, fishing, dancing, doing counted cross stitch, listening to music, and playing her harmonica and accordion, and traveling with Raymond to various places throughout the U.S. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Edna received much joy from visiting the elderly and was always willing to help a friend or family member. Edna was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Raymond, on August 12, 1994; by her parents; brothers, Willie, Henry, Lawrence, and Oscar Bockhorn; grandchildren, Paul Douglas Heckmann and Ruth Annette Heckmann; and brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-laws Herman and Meta Krause, Albert and Alwine Krause, Benny and Gladys Krause, Willie Buddie and Annetta Schulz and Clarence Krause. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-laws, Marilyn and Douglas Heckmann of Brenham and Arlene and David Stern of Tomball; grandchildren, Michael and Kathy Stern of Edgewood and Stacy and Josh Everett of Tomball; great-grandchildren, Justin Paul, Kasey Lee, and Amber Nicole Stern of Edgewood and Mason Alexander, Emily Elizabeth and Madelyn Olivia Everett of Tomball. Also surviving are sisters-in-laws Irene Bockhorn of Brenham, Lee Dell Krause of Brenham and numerous other friends and relatives. Edna''s family wishes to express gratefulness for her life of friendship, love, and contentment. She will be greatly missed, yet joyfully sent ahead to her eternal home. Funeral services for Edna Bockhorn Krause will be held at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church on Wednesday, May 27, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor''s Lawrence Bade and Phil Fenton officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at memorial Oaks Chapel on Tuesday, May 26, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Michael Stern, Josh Everett, Kenneth Bockhorn, Don Bockhorn, David Bockhorn, Rick Berry, Don Krause, Paul Aschenbeck and Travis Berry. Justin Stern, Mason Everett, Travis Schulz, Sid Rogers, Jeannie Rodriquez, Mary Winkelmann, and all friends of the family will be considered honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be given to the Paul Heckmann Memorial Scholarship Fund at St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hospice Brazos Valley, or the charity of your choice.
