Edna Cummings Morris, 93, of Chappell Hill, Texas, died May 20, 2005. Mrs. Morris was born Sept. 13, 1911, in Kennard, Texas, to Harmon Adam and Minnie Bell Matchett Cummings. She attended Kennard, Texas schools and earned her teaching certificate at Sam Houston State College. On Dec. 23, 1931, she was married to Herman Edward Morris in Trinity, Texas. Mrs. Morris was a homemaker. She was a former member of Shady Acres Baptist Church in Houston, where she taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school and was a member of the choir and ladies Bible class. Recently, she was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Brenham. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Marie and George Hendrickson of Chappell Hill; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Beverly Morris of Chappell Hill; three grandchildren, Lorinda DeLaughter and husband Roger of Houston, Donna Morris and husband Bobby of Montgomery and Tracey Hughes and husband Larry of Chappell Hill; seven great-grandchildren, Jon DeLaughter of Houston, Tiffany and David Wallin of Houston, April Morris of Montgomery, Adam Morris of Montgomery, Brady Hughes of Chappell Hill and Mallory Hughes of Chappell Hill; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman Edward Morris; three brothers, Harman Matthew Cummings, Mark Cummings and Clarence Cummings; and two sisters, Vallie Bell Hall and Lizzie Cummings. The family will receive visitors from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22, in Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, 23, in Memorial Oaks Chapel with Rev. Mike Habermehl and Rev. Darren Donaldson officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Chappell Hill. Pallbearers will be Roger DeLaughter, Bobby Morris, Jon DeLaughter, Adam Morris, David Wallin and Larry Hughes. Brady Hughes will be considered an honorary pallbearer. Memorials may be given to the Gideons, Box 41, Brenham, TX 77833. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
