Funeral services for Edward J. Fay, of Chappell Hill, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, November 21, 2014 at St. Mary''s Catholic Church in Brenham, with Jayaraju Polisetty officiating. Burial will follow in Masonic Cemetery in Chappell Hill. The family will receive friends and family Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Edward J. Fay passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center. He was 95 years of age. He enjoyed life and was loved by all whose lives he touched Mr. Fay was born August 3, 1919 in Boston, Mass. to Augustin A. and Agnes Regina Hogarty Fay. In 1937 he signed up to be in the First Corps of Cadets, in 1940 his unit 211th Artillary, was one of the first three guard units called to active service. On May 10, 1944, Edward was married to Rose Elaine Bessinger. Ed and Elaine traveled over seas for many years making life long friends. After obtaining a degree in Economics and History from Harvard, he became a very successful businessman in International Trade in the Import/Export area. Mr. Fay stepped down as Director, International Operations of International Center for Entrepreneurial Development ICED Corp. in 2001. Mr. Fay selflessly served his community in the following capacity: Manager of the World Trade Department of the Houston Chamber of Commerce; President, Houston World Trade Association; President, Houston Harvard Club; President, Houston Taipei Committee; President, National Association of World Trade; Manager, Chamber of Commerce of the United States; Member, President''s Regional Export I Council, and U. S. Dept. of Commerce District Export Expansion Committee; Chairman, Houston Committee of Foreign Relations; Vice-President for Korea-Texas Trade Promotion Council; Served on the Board of the Japan-American Society of Houston; President, Houston Branch of the English-Speaking Union-Rotary Club of Houston and Brenham. Survivors include his son Peter Fay and wife Melinda, daughter Deborah Hill and husband Freddie Piedrasanta; grandchildren: Laina Freedberg and husband Doug, Lisa Piedrasanta, Brandon Fay and wife Francesca, Shanna Sutton, Amber Chapman and husband David, and Ryan Martinez and husband Manuel; great-grandchildren: Vivien, Andrew and Harper Freedberg, Skyla Wilson, Kailey Gould, and Mackenzie Martinez. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, sister and wife Elaine. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley.
