Edward Henry Meschewitz, 88, widower of Annie Houdek Meschewitz, died March 3, 2012 in Scott and White Hospital in Temple. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in St. Mary''s Catholic Church in Brenham, with burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery to follow. Msgr. Benedict Zientek is Celebrant. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel, followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. under the direction of the Knights of Columbus Council #3287. Edward Meschewitz was born Fe/ 21. 1924 in the Greenvine Community to Mike and Emma Wessinger Meschewitz. He served his country during WWII in the U. S. Navy, and was employed as a truck driver and clerk at Farmer''s Merchants Lumber Co. in Brenham for many years. Edward was active in the American Legion for 55 years, as well as the Knights of Columbus Council #3287, achieving both third and fourth degrees. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Glen and Gayle Meschewitz; daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and George Jurica, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Grant Meschewitz, Holly and Ahmad Fahkri; great-grandchildren: Julie, Sarah, and Zein Fahkri, and Brett Jurica and fiancé Elizabeth Stanley. Also surviving is Edward''s special friend, Annie Fritz of Brenham, and a brother and sister, Alex Meschewitz and Mary Meschwitz, both of Brenham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Meschewitz in 1999, his parents, and a brother, Andrew "Gabby" Meschewitz. Memorials may be directed to the Scott and White Foundation.
