Edward Penkert

Edward H. Penkert, 92, of Burton, died April 2, 2005, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mr. Penkert was born March 25, 1913, in Burton, Texas, to Gus and Louise Hodde Penkert. He was baptized May 18, 1913, in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine and was confirmed April 1, 1928, in the same church. Mr. Penkert attended Greenvine Public School. On March 27, 1938, he married Velma Neutzler in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine. Mr. Penkert was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine and was a farmer and rancher. Survivors include his brother, Paul Penkert of Brenham; and sister, Lillie Muehlbrad of Burton; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Velma Penkert, on Feb. 27, 2005; three brothers; and one sister. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5 in Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine with Pastor Pam Werrell officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. The family will receive visitors at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 4. Pallbearers will be Leonard Penkert, Dennis Penkert, Harry Penkert, Ray Felder, Delbert Stark, John Knode, Larry Stark and Nelson Neutzler. Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Bennett, Roger Eckert, Tommy Sager and Pastor Tim Christ.
