Edward Louis Ruemke, 69, of Brenham, husband of Dorothy Bosse Ruemke, died February 5, 2008 in Tomball Regional Hospital in Tomball. Mr. Ruemke was born September 16, 1938 in Washington County to Louis H. and Ida C. Peters Ruemke. He was baptized November 6, 1938 in Greenvine by Pastor Carl L. Ziehe and confirmed on April 6, 1952 in Zionsville by Pastor R. J. Weber. He served his country for six years in the U.S. Army. On June 21, 1958, he married Dorothy Bosse in Zion Lutheran Church in Zionsville. Mr. Ruemke was an auto mechanic for the LaRoche dealerships. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, playing cards and dominoes, as well as working on vehicles. He especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren. Mr. Ruemke was a member of Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin, and the Berlin-Mill Creek-Zionsville Fire Department. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Ruemke; a son, Bryan Ruemke and wife Catherine; daughters Debora Talamantez and husband Robert, and Carolyn Steinfeld and husband Clarence; grandchildren: Josh and Carlee Ruemke; Alyssa and Anthony Talamantez, and Cody and Cory Steinfeld; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lorene and Clarence Ruemke; a cousin, Eldo Ruemke; nephews Kenneth Ruemke and Michael Ruemke and wife Hope; great-nieces LeeAnn Lyle and Katie Ruemke and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services for Edward L. Ruemke will be held Friday, Feb. 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin with Pastor Teresa Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will take place Thursday from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Kenneth Ruemke, Michael Ruemke, Clarence Steinfeld, Robert Talamantez, Josh Ruemke, and Bruce Hohlt. Past and present employees of LaRoche Chevrolet will serve as honorary pallbearers. Memorials may be given to Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin.
