Edward G. Strangmeyer, 83, died April 1, 2018 in Brenham.
Edward Strangmeyer was born December 22, 1934 in Brenham to Edward F. and Minnie Loesch Strangmeyer. He served his country in the U. S. Army. On June 8, 1957, he was married to Evelyn Albers at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, where he was a lifetime member until his death. He served on the church council and as assistant Sunday School superintendent.
A member of the Brenham Volunteer Fire Dept. for 37 years, and was honored as the Fireman of the Year in 1974. He worked for Sears for 20 years in the service department. He was retired from Washington Co. Road and Bridge Dept. Edward also served his community as a volunteer at the Washington County Healthy Living Association.
Hunting, fishing, and general repairs were his favorite hobbies. He also enjoyed time spent with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 5, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, with Pastor Kyle Merkle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Strangmeyer; daughters and sons-in-law Stacy and Rocky Ullrich, and Shanan and Mark Marburger, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Reanna Ullrich and friend, David Arvidson; Paden Ullrich; Mason and Katlyn Marburger, Grayson Marburger and fiancé Katie Wellbrock; great-grandchild: Elodie Marburger.
Mr. Strangmeyer was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Eddie and Minnie Albers, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Albers.
Serving as pallbearers are Rocky Ullrich, Mark Marburger, Mason Marburger, Grayson Marburger, Paden Ullrich, and David Arvidson.
Memorials may be directed to the Washington County Healthy Living Association or to a charity of your choice.
