Edwin Brauner, 89, of the Long Point community, died May 13, 2005, at his residence. Mr. Brauner was born Oct. 6, 1915, in Artesian Park community of Washington County, TX to Robert and Emma Renz Brauner. He was baptized Nov. 28, 1915, in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville and was confirmed on March 29, 1931, in the same church. Mr. Brauner attended Hoddeville School. Mr. Brauner served 3 1/2 years in the Army during World War II, with two years in Europe in the 821st tank destroyer unit. On Nov. 27, 1947, he was married to Gladys Neumann in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham by Rev. Theo. Strang. He was a life member of Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville and was a member of the American Legion of Brenham. Mr. Brauner worked part time for 13 years for Gus Foerster Long Point Grocery and was a farmer and rancher. Survivors include his wife, Gladys Brauner of Long Point; son, Wayne Brauner of Long Point; grandson, Justin Wayne Brauner of Kingwood and his fiancée Lacy; brother and sister-in-law, Lonnie and Viola Brauner of Killeen; sisters, Selma Schuermann of Aldine and Rosalie Kokemoor of Brenham; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Emma Bell Neumann of Brenham, Alvin and Nell Neumann of Brenham and Raymond and Lorine Neumann of Bryan. He was preceded in death by his parents. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville with Pastor David Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends and neighbors will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund.
