Edwin Rudolph Breddin, 91, of Brenham, passed away February 19, 2008 in Trinity Care Center. Mr. Breddin was born December 29, 1916 in the Wonder Hill community to Willie and Malinda Schaeffer Breddin. He was baptized at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg, and also later confirmed there. He was educated in the Wonder Hill School. On December 22, 1946, he married Alma Lehmann in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings. Mr. Breddin was a painting contractor with Breddin Bros. Painting. He served in the US Army during World War II from April 1941 to August, 1945, stationed in the Aleutian Islands, Germany, and Central Europe. He was a member of the 206th Coastal Artillery and 1229th Combat Engineers. Mr. Breddin received four Bronze Stars while serving his country. A craftsman, Mr. Breddin made fiddles for over 70 years. He was a member of the Brenham VFW, Pleasant Hill School Board, and the church council of St. Paul''s Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg. Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Haverland and husband Robert of Paige, a son, Edwin Breddin, Jr. and wife Anna of Chappell Hill, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Breddin, his parents, four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services for Edwin Breddin will be held Saturday, February 23 at 10:00 at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg, with Pastor Robert Sorensen officiating. Burial will follow in the Phillipsburg Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday from 5:30 to 7:00 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Robert Breddin, Michael Breddin, Jonathan Haverland, Justin Haverland, Jeremy Haverland, and Daniel Gaskamp. Memorials may be given to St. Paul''s Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
