Edwin Lueckemeyer

Edwin John Lueckemeyer, 96 of Brenham, died August 11, 2008 at Burleson St. Joseph Manor in Caldwell, TX. He was born April 27, 1912 in Austin County, Texas to Theo & Lottie Chernosky Lueckemeyer. He was baptized on December 5, 1912 in St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem and later confirmed on January 26, 1927 in the same church. He attended Austin County schools and Blinn College. Edwin served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On October 12, 1952, he married Irene Dunlap in Salem Lutheran Church. Ed was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. A skilled carpenter, Mr. Lueckemeyer was well versed in the techniques necessary for the restoration of early Texas cabins, houses and outbuildings. He worked extensively with the late Faith Bybee in the restorations of her collection of Henkel Square at Round Top. He received many national, state and local awards in recognition of his work as a restorer. Survivors include his son & daughter-in-law: Jim & Rhonda Burleson of Mineola, TX; daughters & son-in-law: Lottie & LeRoy Tegeler of Brenham, Gale Kossow of Florida; brother & sister-in-law: Odell & Willie Mae Lueckemeyer of Brenham; sister & brother-in-law: Lillian & Melvin Henske of Brenham; sisters-in-law: Evelyn Lueckemeyer, Ilene Lueckemeyer, both of Brenham; grandchildren: Stephen Reynolds, Troy & Shana Burleson, Cori Kossow, Shane Kossow, Carl Tegeler, Serena & Ben Yates, Dana Tegeler, Christopher Kossow; great-grandchildren: Braden Burleson, Hunter Reynolds, Alana Kossow, and soon to be great-grandchild Clayton E. Yates, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Irene, his parents Theo & Lottie Lueckemeyer, brothers, Franklin Lueckemeyer and T.W. Lueckemeyer, sisters, Dorephy Blume, Lula Broecker and mother-in-law, Gladys Goss. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 13 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2008 in Salem Lutheran Church of Salem with Pastors Charles Parnell and Lydia Paterson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Ed''s grandson''s will serve as pallbearers.
