Edwin William Wensel, 82, of Brenham, died April 5, 2003, in Brenham Rest Home. Mr. Wensel was born Sept. 18, 1920, in Washington County, TX, to August and Mathilda Guthmann Wensel. He was baptized in St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton and was confirmed April 14, 1935, in the same church. He attended Mill Creek and Brenham schools. Mr. Wensel served in the Air Force from Jan. 18, 1943 through Aug. 13, 1943. On Nov. 7, 1953, he married Margaret Miiller in St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton. Mr. Wensel was a dairyman, painter and furniture repairman. He was a member of St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Wensel of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Larry Herr of Bleiblerville and Joyce and Bruce Hohlt of Brenham; grandchildren, Shelbie and Shayna Hohlt and Nicholas Herr; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lorien Miiller of Llano, Richard and Olien Crenshaw of Breckenridge and Homan and Inez Miiller of Llano; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Mathilda Wensel; and sister and brother-in-law, Clara and Robert Koerth. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 8 in St. John s United Church of Christ in Burton with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg and Pastor Teresa Davis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Bryan Rothermel, Lonnie Lueck, Donald Becker, Clarence Mahlmann, Kirk Hanath and Ben Dannhaus. Memorials may be given to Hospice Brazos Valley or the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
