Edwin (Billy) William Breddin Jr. passed away peacefully at home on June 20, 2023, at the age of 75. Ed was born May 24, 1948, in Brenham, Texas to Edwin Breddin and Alma Lehman. He grew up and lived his entire life on the family farm in the Wonder Hill Community. He also was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg. He was baptized September 19, 1948, confirmed August 20, 1961, and on August 5, 1972, Ed married the love of his life, Anna Haverland, there. They had two children, Robert and Michael.
Being brought up in rural America, Ed grew up raising and showing animals at an early age, which led to him receiving multiple awards (enough to fill a wall, as well as several pages of his mother’s photo albums) during his school-age-years in 4-H. He learned how to fix just about anything that might need fixing on a farm, which is something he used, and others relied on him for, throughout his lifetime. But what Ed cherished more than anything, was his relationships with family and friends. Ed didn’t really place a lot of importance on the “things” in his life, it was the people that were priceless in his eyes.
After graduating from Blinn College in 1969, Ed began his first job with Brookshire Brothers grocery stores, doing everything from the dairy clerk to assistant manager. He worked there for 42 years, and retired to work alongside his son, Michael, at Leftovers Antiques in Brenham, TX. There, he was known as the Numbers Guy, Chief Fixer and Finisher, Banker, Mail Carrier, and a Jack of All Trades that would do anything for anyone. And last, but by no means least, Ed was known as a Father Figure to everyone that worked at Leftovers, and was affectionately called “Daddy Ed” by all.
Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years Anna Breddin, Sons: Robert Breddin and wife Krista of Kansas City, and Michael Breddin of Brenham; sister, Sherry and brother-in-law, Robert Haverland of Paige; and grandchildren, Michael and Stephanie Halgren of Kansas City. Beloved friends Ed Fulkerson and Rick Ingenthron
