Eleanor Pearl (Schwartz) Gaskamp, 87, widow of Melvin Gaskamp, went to her eternal home on January 7, 2018.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn with Pastor Mark Moldenhauarer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation is from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Eleanor Pearl Gaskamp was born October 6, 1930 to Fred and Rosa (Goeke) Schwartz in the William Penn community of Washington County. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn, where she was also married to Melvin Gaskamp on May 14, 1955 by Pastor Appel. She remained a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn, and while living in Houston, she was also a faithful member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church.
Eleanor was a graduate of William Penn High School and Blinn College. She was employed as a secretary in the oil industry in Houston for many years.
She was the glue that held the family together with her unconditional love. She spoiled her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Fred Jr. and Jo Ann Schwartz, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Clarence and Bernice Gaskamp of Brenham, and sister-in-law, Florence Gaskamp of Richmond. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great great nephews.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are her nieces and nephews: Peggy McDonald, Greg Gaskamp, Jeff Schwartz, Tracy Bartlett, Amy Jeter, Ryan Gaskamp, Hanna Schwartz, Logan Schwartz, Blaine Bartlett, and Allie Jeter.
Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn.
