Elfrieda Kaase, 89, widow of Charlie Kaase, died June 5, 2009 in Trinity Care Center. Mrs. Kaase was born August 4, 1919 in Kenney, Texas to Otto and Lena Andreas Albrecht. She was baptized in St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem on November 9, 1919, and confirmed there on April 9, 1933. On Feb. 27, 1946, she married Charlie Kaase in St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville. She was a seamstress for the Joe Frank Co, and the Maddox Furniture Co., and was later employed by Blinn College. A member of Bellville VFW Auxiliary Post 6522, Mrs. Kaase enjoyed cooking for the family, crocheting, playing cards and dominoes and spending time with her family. Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Erich Glenewinkel of Brenham; grandson, Chuck Glenewinkel and wife Lacey of College Station; granddaughter, Melissa Glenewinkel of Brenham; great-grandchildren Erich Michael and Charles Russell Glenewinkel; a sister Helen Hackenjos of Houston, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Herbert and Delores Kaase. Mrs. Kaase is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend and roommate, Dula Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Kaase; parents Otto and Lena Albrecht; brother Erwin Albrecht, brothers-in-law Herbert Brandt and Charles Hackenjos, sister-in-law Margaret Albrecht, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Alvin and Goldie Kaase, and a brother-in-law, Robert Kaase. Funeral services for Elfrieda Kaase will be held Sunday, June 7 at 3:00 p.m. at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Welcome with Pastor David Klak officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville. Visitation with family and friends will take place Saturday from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are her nephews, Gary Albrecht, Larry Brandt, Glenn Kaase, and Mike Lewis, as well as Alfred Krause and Kenneth Wehring. Memorials may be directed to Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Welcome Building Fund, or to the scholarship fund of this church.
