Elgin Klausmeyer

January 18, 1930 — February 24, 2017

Elgin Henry Klausmeyer, 87, passed away at his residence on February 24, 2017.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2017 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Phil Fenton officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Elgin Klausmeyer was born January 18, 1930 in the New Wehdem Community of Austin County to Reinhardt and Thekla Glaeser Klausmeyer. He was baptized April 21, 1930, and confirmed April 2, 1944 at St. James Lutheran Church of New Wehdem.

Elgin served his country in the U. S. Army from September of 1951 until 1953. He served in Korea and Japan,

and spent 18 months overseas. He married Evelyn Sander on Dec. 6, 1953 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.

Elgin worked with Walter Thielemann Construction for over 35 years. He was active with the American Legion Post 48 of Brenham, and served two terms as commander. He also served as commander of VFW Post 7104 for one term.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Randy and Pat Klausmeyer, and Mark and Connie Klausmeyer, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Amy Lynn Klausmeyer and special friend, Joe Kulcak; Nikki Renee King and husband Calvin; Kristen Nicole Schroeder and husband Adam, and Kayla Beth Klausmeyer; great-granddaughter, Swayzee Renee Schroeder; sister, Flora Dell Marek, and sister-in-law Janet Sander. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Mr. Klausmeyer was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, and his parents.

Serving as pallbearers are Randall Kohring, Regan Scott Sander, Russell Klausmeyer, Jason Klausmeyer, Boyd Spiess, Adam Schroeder, Bryan Haevischer, Kenneth Neumann, Calvin King, and Joe Kulcak.

The family would like to thank Mr. Klausmeyer’s caregivers at Texas Home Health, as well all doctors who assisted in his care.

Honorary pallbearers will be all past commanders of American Legion Buddy Wright Post 48, and James F. Dillon VFW Post 7104.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Radio and T.V. Ministry.
