Annette Vogel, Esquire
Elizabeth Annette Vogel, 61, a resident of Brenham, Texas, formerly of Rosharon, Texas died peacefully Sunday, August 11, 2024 with her family by her side, following a period of declining health and a second attack of ARDS.
Elizabeth Annette Garrison Vogel was born January 26, 1963 in Denton, Texas the beloved daughter of the late Nate and Marylee James Garrison. She was raised in LaPorte, Texas, where she was a 1981 graduate of LaPorte High School. She was active in many areas and excelled in all of them including cheerleading, Chatos, Girls Interact, speech club, National Honor Society, annual school plays, and student council where she served as vice-president. Most recently she was part of the committee to plan and organize the recent class reunion.
In 1985 Annette graduated Cum Laude from the University of Houston, with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and minor in English. She served as a resident advisor and hall director in the UH dorms and was a finalist for the Ms. UH title during Homecoming 1985. Annette loved to attend Houston Cougar sporting events throughout her long association with UH. Annette’s scholastic goal was to become an attorney, and she graduated from the University of Houston Law Center in 1990 with her Doctor of Jurisprudence.
Annette began her professional career experimenting with different specialties of law until she landed at Link Energy in the pipeline real estate department. From there, she progressed in her career as a manager, land agent, and attorney with Plains All American Pipeline, HCP Real Estate Advisors, Enterprise Products Company, and finally INEOS Olefins and Polymers where she partially retired following contracting ARDS in 2017. She then worked part time for Salem Land Service until moving to Brenham, Texas with her husband in 2023.
It is UH where Annette met and married the love of her life, John Paul Vogel on May 24, 1986 at the A.D. Bruce Religion Center, on campus. They enjoyed more than 38 years of marriage and family life. Survivors who cherish her memory include her husband John, their daughter, Taylor and son, Patrick.
Annette’s family and her Catholic faith were the centerpiece of her private life. Everyone she touched knew she was a special person who was caring and genuine. She always had a smile on her face and showed her faith not only in her mind and heart but through her actions in church ministries.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Kurt Garrison; Annette was the last surviving member of her immediate family. A sister-in-law, Janet Parsons, survives her as well as cousins Becky Merritt and June Christian. She was a true southern belle and daughter of the State of Texas.
Everyone is welcome to a memorial Mass service at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2024 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Brenham. A luncheon will follow to share memories of Annette with her family and friends. Burial will be private, on Sunday, August 25 at Calvary Cemetery in Brenham.
