Ella Mae Hinze, 84, of Brenham, widow of Edwin Hinze, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2008 at Brenham Rest Home in Brenham, Texas. Ella Mae was born December 13, 1923 in William Penn Community, Washington County, Texas. Her parents were Charlie Rosenbaum and Elsie Lampe Rosenbaum. Ella Mae was baptized on January 13, 1924 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, William Penn by Reverend H.F. Hellmann. She was confirmed by Reverend C. J. Appel at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on April 10, 1938. She graduated from William Penn High School on May 4, 1941. On December 23, 1945, she married Edwin Hinze at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, William Penn by Reverend C. J. Appel. He preceded her in death on May 9, 1983. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, and a member of the Afternoon LWML Circle. Before her marriage Ella Mae was employed as a nurse''s aid at St. Frances Hospital in Brenham. She was a seamstress and also sewed for Tic Toc Infant Wear. She had a special talent for sewing, crocheting, quilting, and gardening. She made numerous quilts for her children and grandchildren. She was an avid Astros and Rockets fan. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Carolyn Hinze of Brenham, Eldon and Mary Hinze of Spring, Texas, daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Aubrey Jaster of Brenham, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Adela Schroeder of Brenham, Alfred and Doris Becker of Navasota, Walline Hinze of Brenham, and Oscar Hinze of Brenham, four grandchildren Darren Hinze of Washington, Susan Bean and husband Matthew of Brenham, Hilliary Poehlmann and husband Derek of Brenham, and Laura Schiller and husband Justin of Brenham, and two great-grandchildren Madilyn Bean and Carter Poehlmann. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Edwin Hinze, brother and sister-in-law, Lee Roy and Bernice Rosenbaum, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Henry and Alma Gaskamp, Ervin Hinze, Ernest Hinze Jr., Lois Hinze, Harven Schroeder, and Arnold and Laura Holtkamp. Special thanks to her friends and family who visited, called, prayed and helped in any way. Funeral services for Ella Mae Hinze will be held Tuesday, April 15, at 10:00 a.m. from Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham with Pastor Matthew Jacobs and Pastor William Holzer officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lee Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 14, at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Darren Hinze, Matthew Bean, Derek Poehlmann, Justin Schiller, Jonathan Gaskamp, and James Walker. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandaughters and great-granchildren. Memorials may be given to Grace Lutheran Day School or Grace Lutheran Radio Ministry.
