Ella Mae Ruemke, 92, of Brenham, TX passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 9, 2023 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2023 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Prairie Hill with burial following the service in the church cemetery.

Ella Mae was born on August 30, 1930 to parents Emil and Ella (Koehne) Bentke in Washington County.  She was baptized on October 5, 1930 in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill by Pastor William Herman and confirmed in the same church. She married Leroy Ruemke on January 1, 1952 also at St. Matthew Lutheran. She was retired from Sealy Mattress where she had been employed for 29 years.

Ella Mae is survived by her son and daughter-in -law, Billy and Pam Ruemke; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Charles Duch. Grandchildren, Robert Ruemke and wife, Mandi, Heather Ruemke and Joshua Ruemke; great-grandson, Corbin Ruemke; great-granddaughter, Parker Ruemke. Sister, Florence Bentke; brothers, William “Charlie” Bentke and Tom Bentke; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Linda Bentke. Brother-in law and wife, Clarence and Lorene Ruemke. Special nephews and families: Troy Bentke, Timothy Bentke, Ronald Bentke and wife, Jeri and their children, Kyle Bentke and wife, Michelle, Ashley Bentke and fiancée, Wesley. Brian Bentke and wife, Robyn and their children Lisa Jasinski husband, Kurt and Dylan Bentke. Michael Ruemke and wife, Hope and family; Kenneth Ruemke; great-nephew, Dawson Jasinski and special friends, Chris and Kim Sharp.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Annie Ruemke; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Bentke and Sandra Bentke; brother-in-law, Eldo Ruemke.

Pallbearers are Ronald Bentke, Brian Bentke, Troy Bentke, Timothy Bentke, Kenneth Ruemke and Michael Ruemke.

Memorials honoring Ella Mae’s memory may be given to St. Johns Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street, Brenham, TX 77833.
