Elsie Dannhaus

Elsie L. Emshoff Dannhaus, 92, of Brenham, died Jan. 11, 2003, in Bluebonnet Hills Care Center in Brenham. Mrs. Dannhaus was born May 6, 1910, in New Wehdem, TX, to John and Henrietta Kochwelp Emshoff. She was baptized June 19, 1910, in St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem and was confirmed April 5, 1925, in the same church. She attended Pleasant Hill School. On Nov. 28, 1929, she married John R. Dannhaus in St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem. Mrs. Dannhaus was a cook in the Pleasant Hill School and was a life-long member of St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, John W. and Johanna Dannhaus of Brazoria, Elwood and Evyonne Dannhaus of Brenham and Patsy Dannhaus of Brenham; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John R. Dannhaus; her son, Billy R. Dannhaus; three brothers; and one sister. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 in St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem with Pastor Sid Bohls officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6:00-8:00 p.m. today. Pallbearers will be Kyle Dannhaus, Tim Krueger, Rob Pisciotta, John Nungaray, Howard Emshoff and Melvin Loesch. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. James Lutheran Church in New Wehdem. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
