Elton Elmo Knebel, 85, of Burton, died Saturday, August 23, 2008, at St. David Hospital in Austin. Mr. Knebel was born October 28, 1922, in the LaBahia Community to Emil and Marie Jahnz Knebel. He attended Boundary School. Elton was a dairy farmer, and a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine where he was baptized and confirmed at an early age. On June 12, 1955, he was married to Aline Naumann in St.John''s Lutheran church of Prairie Hill Church. Survivors include: his wife, Aline; his six sons and their spouses: Don and Sandy Knebel, of Garland; Willie and Jeannelle Knebel, of Joplin, Mo.; Gary and Rosemary Knebel, of Brenham; Kevin and Mandy Knebel, of Brenham; Brian and Pam Knebel, of Brenham; and Jeffrey and Melissa Knebel, of Bastrop. His grandchildren include: Stephanie and Mark Sanborn, Stephen Knebel, Tiffany and Michael Grinnell, Adrianne and Brandon Vincik, Brittni Knebel and special friend Michael Branton, Dillon Knebel, Delaney Knebel, Brandon Knebel, Jayda Knebel, Falyn Knebel, Reece Knebel, Corey Knebel, and Gatlin Knebel. Elton is also survived by five great grandchildren: Samuel, Alana, and Cooper Sanborn; Hannah and Micah Grinnell. Other relatives include his sister and brother-in-law, Ora Nell and William Kuretsch; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws: Alvira Drews, Doris and George Klatt, Edna and Edwin Weiss, Jr., and Ruby Naumann, and a number of nieces and nephews. Elton was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Wilbert Knebel. Funeral services for Elton Knebel will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine, with Pastor John David Nedbalek officiating. Burial will be at LaBahia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday 5-7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel and Monday 6-8 p.m. at Foehner Funeral Home, in Burton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine. Pallbearers include Paul Hightower, Corey Knebel, Dillon Knebel, Stephen Knebel, Ricky Weiss, Jody Naumann, Keith Brinkman, Brandon Knebel, Brandon Vincik and Michael Grinnell. Honorary pallbearers are Erwin Bonnie Weiss, William Red Kuretsch Brother-in-law, Reece Knebel, Gatlin Knebel Grandsons, and Roger Buro nephew, and all other grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.
