Elvera Edie Dallmeyer Muery - Age 85 widow of Sam J. Muery, Jr died on July 1, 2005 at Seton Hospital in Austin, Texas. Mrs. Muery was born June 19, 1920, in Brenham, Texas, the daughter of Charles D. and Lydia Fuchs Dallmeyer. She was baptized into the resurrection of Jesus Christ in St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church on September 26, 1920 by Pastor Sagebiel. She affirmed her baptismal convenant in the Rite of Confirmation in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church on April 14, 1935 by Pastor Hartman. Mrs. Muery, affectionately called Edie by friends was an honor graduate of Brenham High School, attended Blinn College and received a B.A. degree from the University of Texas. She later taught school in Brenham, William Penn, and Austin. On February 6, 1943 she was married to William P. Simms in Salinas, California and lived in Austin, Texas after World War II. On June 12, 1972 she married Sam J. Muery, Jr., and lived in New Orleans, Louisiana until 1979 when they returned to Brenham. Survivors include her children: daughter Joan and husband Mac McLeod of Pinewood, South Carolina; son John Simms and wife Donna of Brenham, Texas; stepchildren: Robert S. Muery and wife Corlette of Atlanta, Georgia; John W. Muery of Covington, LA and Dorinda Muery Forsythe and husband James of Houston, Texas; thirteen grandchildren: Jennifer Hinnant, Greg Simms, Trey McLeod, Sean McLeod, Elizabeth McLeod, Shannon England, Lex Muery, Connor Muery, Rebecca Rivard, Chris Stromeyer, William Stromeyer, Rachael Brady and Natalie Brady; great grandchildren: Cathy Rivard, Russell Rivard and James Stromeyer. She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Utesch and husband Luther; and brother-in-Law, Paul LaRoche, all of Brenham. She was a faithful member of St. Paul''s Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a member of The Thursday Morning Circle, Church Choir and Altar Guild. She was also a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, Fortnightly Club, PEO Sisterhood, Bluebonnet Garden Club, Past President of Women of the Church in New Orleans and Brenham, President of Altar Guild in Austin and Brenham, President of Alpha Delta Pi Alumni Association in Austin, President of PEO Sisterhood in Brenham and New Orleans, and President of Bluebonnet Garden Club. She was the Queen of 1938 Brenham Maifest. Mrs. Muery is preceded in death by her parents C.D. and Lydia Dallmeyer; husbands William P. Simms and Sam J. Muery, Jr., and sister Ruth LaRoche. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 8:00 p. m. Tuesday, July 5 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 6 in St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Lawrence Bade officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Lea Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church, or Trinity Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main Street in Brenham.
