Elvis Hinze

Elvis Ray Hinze, 48, of Carmine, TX, died April 22, 2003, at his residence. Mr. Hinze was born May 18, 1954, in La Grange, TX, to Eldor H. and Ira Mae Noak Hinze. He was baptized Aug. 28, 1954, in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top and was confirmed in the same church April 7, 1968. He was educated in Round Top-Carmine schools and Blinn College. On Oct. 12, 1974, he married Cindy Jacob in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. Mr. Hinze was a loving husband and devoted father. He assumed the role of egg production manager after the passing of his father-in-law and was a faithful employee of Jacob s Store and Jake s Eggs for 33 years. Mr. Hinze was a die-hard Oiler fan and a friend to many. Mr. Hinze was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine, where he was a past council member and current usher team member. He was a member of Cedar Creek Schuetzen Verein, loyal promoter of Carmine Show Fund, board member of Fayette County Junior Livestock Show. Mr. Hinze was also a member of Carmine Fire Department, Carmine Lions Club, Round Top-Carmine Booster Club charter member, Carmine Chamber of Commerce and Round Top Sons of Hermann Lodge #151. He received the FFA Honorary Degree and the 4-H Silver Clover Award. Survivors include his wife, Cindy Hinze of Carmine; sons, Ryan Hinze and wife Leslie of Houston and Kevin Hinze and special friend Kimberly Fischer of Carmine; daughter, Lauren Hinze of Carmine; mother, Ira Mae Hinze of Round Top; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Maggie Hinze of Round Top; sister and brother-in-law, Verna and Larry Meinkowsky of Hallettsville; mother-in-law, Jocie Jacob Braun and her husband Floyd Braun of Carmine; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Debbie Jacob of Carmine; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Tina and Eldon Mikeska of Brenham and Jane and Darrell Marek of New Ulm; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Eldor Hinze; and father-in-law, E.P. Jacob, Jr. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26 in Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine with Pastor Paul Bohot officiating. Burial will be in the Carmine Cemetery in Carmine. Mr. Hinze will lie in state at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St. in Brenham from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. today and 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday. Beginning at 9:00 a.m. Friday, he will lie in state at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. The family will receive visitors from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, April 25 in Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. A devotion will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be Tony Dooley, Johnny Dunham, Berrie Etzel, Floyd Etzel, Gary Goebel, Stuart Markwardt, Glenn Treude and Randy Zingelmann. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Pohl, Robbie Stork, Douglas Ullrich, Robert Wagner, Donnie Watkins and Roger Wunderlich. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Brazos Valley, 705 S. Austin St., Brenham, TX 77833 or Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Website is memorialoakschapel.com.
