Elwood Kelm, 80, left this earth June 20, 2017. He was the husband of Eunice Kelm, proud father and father-in-law of Cindy and Mark Buck, as well as the proud grandfather of Shannon Buck.
Elwood was born in the Gay Hill Community to Gus Sr. and Milda Niemeyer Kelm on May 21, 1937. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, and attended school in Gay Hill and Somerville.
Elwood and Eunice were married in the same church on June 16, 1962.
As a young man, Elwood enjoyed playing baseball and sponsoring the Youth League at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Houston.
Upon returning to Brenham, Elwood and Eunice loved working with the 4-H and FFA members and their livestock projects. Many years were spent supporting the local fair at the Junior Livestock Heifer shows, in addition to sponsoring the calf scramble. Most enjoyable were breeding and raising champion Angus heifers, selling them to local youth, and taking both to state and national junior Angus shows. He was most proud of his farm, where he did the best fence building, grass planting and growing and hay production.
Elwood’s wishes of cremation and no service will be honored.
The family wishes to thank the Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Brazos Valley Hospice for their care and support.
