Elwood Emmett Renz, 81, of Brenham, passed away May 25, 2011 in Scott and White Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 27, 2011 at 10 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. Pastor David Hall will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at Memorial Oaks Chapel Thursday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. Elwood Renz was born Feb. 14, 1930 in the Long Point Community of Washington County to Robert and Emma Lange Renz. He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, and was a graduate of Brenham High School. While a student there, he participated in the football program. Elwood was employed by the City of Brenham as a parks attendant, and attended Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. Mr. Renz½s pride and joy was his vegetable garden, which was the envy of the city. He loved taking drives around the countryside, and enjoyed fishing, as well as barbecuing for his family and friends. Survivors include his sister, Peggy Miller and husband L. W. of Brenham; nieces and nephews JoAnn and Vernon Lehde, and Sharon and James Collins, as well as great-nieces, Emma Miller and Dana Kasmiersky, and Dana½s children, Katie, Dalton and Wyatt. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Marvin Lee Renz. Serving as pallbearers are Howard Hardan, Kirk Hannath, Jimmie Voegler, Herbert Hardan, Vernon Lehde, and Jonathon Hardan. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham. 979836-4564.
