Elwood Bubba Schomburg, 72, of Las Vegas, Nevada, died Sept. 18, 2004, in a Las Vegas hospital. Mr. Schomburg was born Sept. 18, 1932, in Brenham, Texas, to Edward and Lydia Jahnke Schomburg. He was baptized Oct. 23, 1932 and was confirmed March 3, 1947. Mr. Schomburg was a graduate of Brenham High School, Sam Houston State University and Texas A&M University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Schomburg was a former teacher and principal in the Bellville Independent School District. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Karen Schomburg; sister, Evelyn Smith of Maybank; one aunt, Norma Schaefer of Cleburne; his former wife, Peggy Schomburg of Las Vegas, Nevada; and his son s mother, Billie Schomburg of Brenham. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Schomburg; mother and stepfather, Lydia and Willie C. Bohne; brothers-in-law, Gilbert Loesch and Kenneth Smith; aunts and uncles, Edward and Flora Jahnke, Otto W. Schaefer, Otto and Elma Jaster, Ivy and Alma Grassmuck, Arnold and Erna Jahnke, Otto and Hertha Limmer, Ida Gaughen, Raymond and Ella Schomburg, Dennis Sr. and Margaret Schomburg, Ervin and Marie Schomburg and Alvin and Helena Schomburg. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2004 in Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Family visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2004 in Memorial Oaks Chapel. Pallbearers will be Walter Rodenbeck, Ray Schomburg, Elroy Dannhaus, Arno Jahnke, Norwood Lange, Kermit Dittert, Gene Krivacka and Wilbert Kalkhake. Honorary pallbearers will be Calvin Jahnke, Glenn A. Jaster, Donald L. Jaster, Dennis Schomburg, Jr., W.W. Wilkening, Bradley Fischer and Dewitt Nehrkorn. Memorials may be given to St. Paul s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St., in Brenham.
