Emma Lucile Neese passed from this life at her home in Carmine on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at the age of 100 years, 9 months, and 17 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine, with burial in the Carmine Cemetery. Pastor David Tinker will officiate. Mrs. Neese will lie in state at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday evening, and Friday, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton. Emma Lucile Neese was born in Burton on Dec. 28, 1912, the second daughter of John and Louise Fisher Watson, in the home built by her grandfather. She was baptized April 13, 1913 in St. John Church of Burton by H. L. Schulz, and confirmed April 10, 1927 by Rev. A. Walton. She completed high school in Brenham in 1930, and married William John Neese at the home of her parents in Burton. The family moved to Carmine, where she made her home until her death. Lucile taught Sunday School in Burton and later in Carmine, and served as president of the Carmine Mothers Club and on the church building committee. She worked in the pharmacy, as well as in Neese''s Antiques, while providing a loving and caring home for her family. Survivors include her daughter, Diana and husband Reuben Wunderlich; daughter-in-law Charlotte Neese; sister-in-law Pat Watson; grandchildren Kim and husband Bill Lewis of Chandler, AZ, Jon Wunderlich and wife Beverly of Weimar, Jennifer and husband Keith Cudnieff of Bartlet, Charles Neese and wife Tamera of Round Rock. Lucile was also blessed and comforted by ten great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins. Faithful caregivers made it possible for her to remain under their care in her home until death. Lucile was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings: Allyne Campbell, Fisher Watson, and Tom Watson. Also departed are an infant son and son, W. J. Billy Neese, Jr. Memorials may be directed to Martin Luther Lutheran Church General Fund or Hospice Brazos Valley.
